Meet Karen Kearney
Karen Marie Kearney is not new to Spokane, nor to the 3rd District. She resides there now and lived here early in life. Her roots resonate from the West Central area of town where her grandmother's home is still a part of the family - over 100 years later.
Born at Fairchild Air Force Base she is the fourth generation of her family to live in Spokane. Karen, the oldest of four children, took on extra responsibilities at an earlier age when her mother became a single parent.
With money tight and Karen appreciated the basics and the philosophy of you pay the priorities first, you save what you can, and you don't buy it if you can't afford it.
Karen's family situation changed and the family moved to the Seattle. After high school graduation Karen went to work for a bank as a file clerk and upon completion of her career in finance she was responsible for the operation of 16 bank branches in the Seattle metro area.
She married Seattle police officer Chuck Kearney in 1980. After Chuck's retirement in 1992, they moved to Montana and lived in the Bitterroot Valley for five years. Upon moving back to Spokane in 1997, Karen immediately became involved in her community, serving on city boards and in organizations as:
Karen's husband, Chuck, passed away after a lengthy illness just several weeks shy of their 28 th wedding anniversary. Urged all along by others to run for City Council, Karen declined, naturally putting Chuck as her first priority.
Now is the time for her to answer that call. Please vote Karen Kearney for Spokane City Council.
